Sound Absorption

Are you getting an echo? Soundwaves hitting hard, static surfaces can bounce around a space creating a poor acoustic environment, unwelcome noise pollution and generally poor acoustics.

Sound absorbing products are often made from porous, lightweight materials such as open cell foams, fibreglass or PET that can remove 90%-100% of the energy that soundwaves produce. This happens when the energy is changed to from sound energy to heat energy and by doing so it significantly reduces the echo.

Should you be looking for a treatment that prevents the travel of sound between environments (keeping sound in or out of a room), sound insulation treatments are what you would be looking for, which can be found here. Sound absorption treatments can be installed to existing surfaces on walls and ceilings as subtle finished treatments or even extraordinary design features, whereas sound insulation is usually found within the build-up of the wall, floor or ceiling or would be covered with a decorative covering.

We would always recommend sound absorbing treatments were reverberation is a concern and where you wish to create a more relaxing and enjoyable environment while maintaining a contemporary and aesthetically pleasing finish to generic surfaces. Examples of environments these products can provide significant benefits in include open plan offices, schools, village halls, music studios, swimming pools, restaurants and many more.
